INTIMACY, DESIRE AND LONGING
My work is an ongoing exploration of intimacy between men, the vulnerability we can experience when faced with intimacy; desire, longing, and lust, states and emotions that are interconnected, and at times seemingly possible to feel them all simultaneously.
I've been fascinated by the power and intrigue of reflections; In the photography session, I often catch glimpses of myself, the intimacy of the moment within the shared space. Paul Mpagi Sepuya's work has inspired me; In 'SEEING AND BEING SEEN ', I explore the space between myself and the model, making visible the invisible and reflecting on my own journey, owning my identity as a Queer man after years of standing on the sidelines, watching, afraid, curious.
Where does the desire to be controlled or to control come from? Why do we, in the most intimate of moments, play out these roles and experience the helplessness of submission or the power of controlling another? 'SUBMIT AND CONTROL ' is a glimpse into this world; it asks us to examine our reactions: do we ourselves feel excitement, longing, desire?
